Joshua Tree National Park occupies the central and northern reaches of this landscape, where the Little San Bernardino Mountains and Hexie Mountains meet. The area is defined by a complex network of desert drainage systems, including Berdoo Canyon, Indio Canyon, and the namesake Rockhouse Canyon. A critical piece of regional infrastructure, the Colorado River Aqueduct, cuts a straight diagonal line across the southwestern corner of the quadrangle, bridging the gap between the high desert and the Coachella Valley floor. Recreation and access are represented by the Berdoo/Thermal Canyon Bike Trl and routes like Fargo Canyon Rd, which provide passage through the rugged terrain of Fargo Canyon and Little Fargo Canyon. The map reveals the stark intersection of natural desert topography and the engineered path of Southern California's water supply.
