1988 Map of Rooster Rock

USGS Topo · Published 1988

About this map

The Navajo Indian Reservation landscape is defined here by the stark geological forms of the Colorado Plateau as it appeared in the late 1980s. This desert terrain is anchored by the prominent Rooster Rock and Meridian Butte to the west, while the eastern portion is dominated by the massive Yazzie Mesa. The drainage of Gypsum Creek and West Gypsum Creek cuts through the high country, revealing numerous Natural Arches along the canyon rims.
