San Juan National Forest covers the northern reaches of this Colorado landscape, where the terrain is defined by the headwaters of several critical drainages. The Florida River and the Los Pinos River flank the eastern and western portions of the quadrangle, connected by a network of high-elevation roads such as Co RD 240 and Florida RD. Centrally, the namesake Rules Hill and Rabbit Mtn rise above a complex system of canyons including Homer Canyon and Hartman Canyon.
