San Luis Peak and the high alpine terrain of the La Garita Mountains dominate this high-altitude survey of the Colorado Rockies. Situated on the boundary between Gunnison National Forest and Rio Grande National Forest, the landscape is defined by the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail, which snakes across the northern portion of the map. This area serves as a critical hydrologic divide, feeding headwaters such as Stewart Cr and Cochetopa Cr to the north, while W Willow Cr and Rat Cr drain toward the south.
