Mendocino National Forest encompasses this high-elevation terrain along the border of Mendocino and Lake Counties. The landscape is dominated by the massive ridge systems of Sanhedrin Mountain, culminating at Big Signal Peak and Little Signal Peak. The topography is defined by steep drainage basins feeding numerous watercourses, including Deep Hole Creek and Ellis Creek, which carve through the elevations toward Bennett Valley.
