The Saratoga National Historical Park occupies the northwestern corner of this territory, where the terrain slopes toward the Hudson River. Further east and south, the landscape is defined by the winding course of the Hoosic River, which supports a string of riverfront settlements including Schaghticoke, Valley Falls, and Johnsonville.
