Scopan Mtn dominates this Aroostook County landscape, rising between the waters of Scopan Lake and the drainage of North Branch Presque Isle Stream. This recent survey illustrates a region defined by commercial timberlands and remote waterways, where small clearings like Swanback Clearing punctuate the vast woodland. The topography is notably varied, featuring the prominent Scopan Knob and a distinctive geologic gap known as The Notch. Along the western shoreline of the lake, names such as Sylvester Point, White Point, and Birch Point mark the transition from the steep slopes of the mountain to the water's edge. Access to this territory is primarily maintained through a network of rural routes including Seven Islands Rd and W Chapman Rd, which serve the settlement at Walker and the surrounding recreation and forestry areas near Alder Lake and Bogan Cove.
