Heather Meadows serves as a central hub for alpine recreation in this 2011 survey of the northern Cascades. The landscape is defined by its dramatic glacial activity, featuring the Table Mountain Glacier, White Salmon Glacier, and Lower Curtis Glacier. Recreational infrastructure is clustered around the Mount Baker Ski Resort and the Mount Baker Lodge, with access through Austin Pass. The presence of multiple campsites, including Galena Camp and Camp Kiser, reflects the long-standing history of mountaineering and backcountry exploration in this region. Numerous alpine lakes, such as Picture Lake, the Galena Chain Lakes, and Lake Ann, feed into a complex drainage system including Swift Creek and Razor Hone Creek.
