The Silver Bell Mountains define the southwestern landscape of this Pima County region, where the prominent Silver Bell Peak and Portland Ridge rise above the surrounding basin. This 2014 survey documents a land shaped by both natural topography and large-scale industrial activity, most notably evidenced by the massive Silver Bell Tailings Pond situated near the intersection of W Silverbell Rd S and W Cocio Wash Rd. The drainage network is dominated by the seasonal Cocio Wash, which winds through the eastern flats.
