The Presidential Range dominates this portion of the White Mountain National Forest, where the Appalachian National Scenic Trail winds across high-elevation peaks. The topography is defined by significant landmarks such as Mt Eisenhower, Mt Franklin, and Mt Pierce, leading toward the steep drops of Oakes Gulf and the Gulf of Slides. In the central portion of the map, Stairs Mountain and the Giant Stairs offer a unique geologic profile, while the Mount Washington Valley provides a lower-elevation contrast to the north and east. The southwestern corner is anchored by the corridor of Crawford Notch Rd following the Saco River, featuring the dramatic Frankenstein Cliff. This landscape illustrates the dense network of ridges, including Montalban Ridge and Bemis Ridge, and the drainage patterns of numerous mountain streams like Dry River and Rocky Branch.
