Stockton Island dominates this portion of Lake Superior, serving as a central feature of the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore in northern Wisconsin. The island's shoreline is defined by notable coastal features such as Quarry Bay to the southwest and the prominent Presque Isle Point which shelters Presque Isle Bay. The interior topography reflects the glaciated history of the region, rising to several hundred feet above the lake level.
