The Snake Mountains dominate this high-altitude landscape in northeast Nevada, where complex drainage networks define the topography. Centered on the high point of Stormy Peak, the terrain gives rise to numerous watercourses that radiate through deep basins. Currant Creek and the South Fork Currant Creek carve through the western and central reaches, while the eastern slopes feed into the distinct tributaries of the Jakes Creek system, including the North Fork Jakes Creek and South Fork Jakes Creek.
