1996 Map of Swede Peak

USGS Topo · Published 2003

About this map

The Chiricahua Mountains dominate this landscape within the Coronado National Forest, where steep drainages and high peaks define the topography. The high-elevation terrain of the Chiricahua Wilderness occupies the northeastern quadrant, centered around Swede Peak and the branching systems of Shake Gulch and Pine Gulch. This 1990s survey shows a network of remote canyons and vital water sources, including the well-named High Lonesome Spring and Cottonwood Spring, which supported cattle and travelers in an arid environment.
