About this map

The Joliet Ammunitions Plant dominates the northern reaches of this Illinois landscape, revealing a dense grid of infrastructure and military reservations south of Kemery Lake. The transition from industrial-military use to rural agriculture is marked by the Old Indian Reservation Boundary, which cuts diagonally across the townships of Florence and Wilton. In the southern portion of the quadrangle, the small settlements of Symerton and Ritchie serve as anchors for the surrounding farmland, with the latter situated near the confluence of Forked Creek and the Ritchie Sta rail corridor.
