Starvation Peak anchors the southern landscape of this region, where the terrain transitions from the high elevations of the Santa Fe National Forest in the west toward the valley floor. Settlement is concentrated along the transport corridor that follows the course of Tecolote Creek, connecting the historic village of Tecolote with northern outposts like Gabaldon and Santa Ana. The local community's heritage is preserved at sites such as Our Lady of Sorrows Cem, which overlooks the primary roadway.
