The Echo Cliffs dominate the western portion of this landscape, creating a striking vertical boundary where the terrain drops toward the drainage of Hamblin Wash. At the base of these cliffs lies the small settlement of The Gap, a long-standing point of navigation where the principal north-south road intersects with Indian Rte 20. The topography here is defined by stark contrasts, from the high, broad expanse of the Kaibito Plateau in the northeast to the narrower corridors of Crooked Ridge and Hamblin Ridge to the south.
