1981 Map of Tiff

USGS Topo · Published 1982

About this map

The Big River and Mineral Fork converge in this corner of the Ozarks, a landscape deeply shaped by the mining industry of the late 1970s. Extensive strip mine operations and tailings ponds dominate the terrain, particularly near the settlement of Tiff and along the Missouri Pacific railroad line. Amidst this industrial activity, the map preserves the locations of local landmarks such as Oakland Ch, the Washington Lookout Tower, and numerous family and community burial grounds including St Joseph Cem and Masonic Cem.
