About this map

Tuckaseigee River and its numerous mountain forks define this mid-1930s landscape, which was compiled by the Tennessee Valley Authority and the Geological Survey from early aerial photography. Small communities and isolated family homesteads are concentrated along the narrow valley floors, connected by State Highway No 281 and a network of mountain trails. Spiritual and social life is marked by several local institutions, including Moses Creek Ch, Catherine Chapel, and Oak Hill Sch.
