The Camino Del Diablo crosses this arid stretch of the Sonoran Desert, following a historic and arduous route through the Cabeza Prieta Mountains and the Tule Mountains. This mid-1990s survey illustrates a landscape defined by significant administrative boundaries, where the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge and the Barry M Goldwater Air Force Range meet the international border between the United States of America and Mexico.

Evidence of early mineral exploration is concentrated in the southeastern corner, where researchers can identify Venegas Prospects, several Mine Shafts, and additional Prospects. Vital water sources in this dry environment, such as Buckhorn Tank and Tule Tank, are documented along the ridges. South of the border, the terrain transitions into the Sierra El Choclo Duro, highlighting the transborder nature of these desert ranges.
