The Uncompahgre Plateau landscape is defined by its drainage systems and high-altitude landmarks, where water management is evident through the presence of the Glencoe Ditch. At the base of the plateau, the small settlement of Ute sits at the intersection of local routes, while the higher elevations are marked by seasonal working sites like the Burch Cow Camp. The topography is etched by numerous watercourses, including Tabeguache Cr and the various forks of Cottonwood Creek, which converge in the valley floors.
