Waterville Valley sits at the heart of this mid-1990s survey, surrounded by the high peaks and protected lands of the White Mountain National Forest. The landscape is dominated by the steep slopes of Mount Tecumseh and its namesake Mount Tecumseh Ski Area, where a network of trails and lifts carve into the northern mountainside. To the south and east, the Acteon Wilderness and Sandwich Range Wilderness define a more primitive character, marked by granite heights like Sachem Peak and Sandwich Mountain.
