Mount Inyo anchors the western edge of this High Desert landscape, where the drainage systems of the Saline Range define the local topography. The primary hydrological feature is Waucoba Wash, which snakes across the arid basin towards the Saline Valley in the southeast. This 2012 survey illustrates a region shaped by extreme elevation changes and seasonal water flow, with numerous steep-walled cuts including Waucoba Canyon and Wheeler Canyon funneling runoff from the higher peaks.
