Walker River flows southeastward through this high-desert landscape, feeding into the prominent Weber Reservoir as it crosses the boundary between Lyon and Mineral Counties. The terrain transitions from the wide expanses of Sunshine Flat and Lake Bottom in the north to the rising peaks of the Wassuk Range in the south. This 2021 survey illustrates a sparse but vital water-dependent geography, where natural features like Reservation Spring at the base of Reservation Hill provide critical resources in an arid environment. Transportation through this remote stretch of Nevada is anchored by the corridor of US Hwy 95 Alt and Alt 95, which skirt the lower elevations of White Mtn and connect the scattered valleys of the region.
