Lake Winnipesaukee dominates the landscape of this southern New Hampshire quadrangle, particularly the open stretch of water known as The Broads. The shoreline is defined by a dense network of seasonal and year-round settlements including Lake Shore Park, Spring Haven, and West Alton, while larger landforms like Rattlesnake Island and Diamond Island rise from the lake's surface. On the mainland, the topography climbs steeply into the Belknap Mountains, where summits such as Mount Major and Straightback Mtn overlook the water.
