The Middle Fork Flathead River serves as a natural corridor through the mountainous terrain of Flathead County, following the Flathead Wild and Scenic River corridor. The settlement of West Glacier sits at the gateway to Glacier National Park, where the Theodore Roosevelt Pass provides passage through the high country. South of the river, the Flathead National Forest encompasses a vast network of service roads and trails, such as the P-Line Trail and Desert Mountain Rd, which snake through the steep elevations of Desert Mtn and Emery Ridge.
