Wetmore and Greenwood anchor this 2016 survey of the high-elevation canyonlands at the border of Custer and Pueblo counties. The landscape is defined by the complex drainage systems of Hardscrabble Cr, with its northern, middle, and southern branches carving deep relief alongside N Red Cr. This area within the San Isabel National Forest features a network of historic trails, such as the Rudolph Mountain Trail and Mason Gulch Trail, which reflect the long-standing use of these corridors for transit through the mountainous terrain.
