White Chief Mountain and the towering granite prominence of Fresno Dome anchor this 2012 survey of the high Sierras in Madera County. The landscape is defined by a dense network of high-elevation meadows and watercourses, including Soquel Meadow, Boggy Meadow, and Poison Meadow, which drain into the N Fork Willow Cr and Nelder Cr. This area has long served as a seasonal retreat and recreational hub, evidenced by the numerous specialized sites such as the Goat Meadow Snow Play Mountain and the Sierra Sky Ranch Golf Course.
