Whiting sits at the head of Whiting Bay, where the Orange River and Moose Brook meet the tide in this Downeast Maine landscape. The area is defined by a dense network of freshwater lakes and coastal inlets, including Western Lake, Eastern Lake, and the expansive Orange Lake to the southwest. The terrain is notably punctuated by numerous named peaks such as Keniston Mtn, Estey Mtn, and Pughole Mtn, which rise between the drainages of the Hobart Stream and Crane Mill Brook.
