The Willow Beach National Fish Hatchery sits at the northern edge of this section of the Colorado River, where the water carves through the dramatic Black Canyon. Following the border between Nevada and Arizona, the river channel is defined by a series of distinct coves and rapids, including Roaring Rapids and Monkey Hole. The surrounding landscape of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area is dominated by the volcanic and desert landforms of the Eldorado Mountains to the west and the Mojave Desert to the east.
