The Gore Range dominates this portion of the White River National Forest, defined by high-elevation hydrology and a primitive trail system. This landscape is characterized by a series of alpine basins containing isolated water bodies such as Willow Lakes, Salmon Lake, and Boulder Lake. These basins drain eastward toward the Blue River via several namesake tributaries including Pebble Cr and Maryland Cr, or westward into the Gore Creek drainage.
