Centennial Valley provides the topographic context for this corner of Beaverhead County, where the southern waters of Lima Reservoir meet the outflow of the Red Rock River. The landscape is defined by the sharp transition from the valley floor to the high elevations of the Snowcrest Range and Merdent Peak. A significant portion of the terrain is dedicated to conservation, with the Red Rock Lakes National Wildlife Refuge protecting the complex drainage networks of First Wolverine Creek, Second Wolverine Creek, and Swamp Creek. In the northern reaches, the Beaverhead National Forest covers the timbered slopes. Local infrastructure is minimal, consisting of rural routes like Blacktail Rd and Lima Dam Rd that follow the natural contours of the basin to service the remote ranching and forest lands.
