Woodenshoe Buttes and the high desert plateaus of San Juan County dominate this landscape, which is marked by a complex system of drainage canyons and prominent sandstone formations. The southern portion of the quadrangle includes the boundary of Natural Bridges National Monument near White Canyon, while much of the central and northern terrain is managed as part of the Manti-La Sal National Forest.
