Ackerson Meadow and Aspen Valley anchor this mountainous section of the High Sierra, straddling the boundary between the Stanislaus National Forest and Yosemite National Park. The landscape is defined by the deep drainages of the Middle Tuolumne River and the South Fork Tuolumne River, which carve through the high-elevation terrain near Ackerson Mtn and Bald Mtn.
