Ackley Lake serves as the central hydrologic feature of this Judith Basin County landscape, managed through a system of irrigation works including the Ackley Lake Feeder Canal and Ackley Lake Outlet Canal. Located near the settlement of Hobson, this area reflects the importance of water management in Montana's ranching and agricultural heartland. The Judith River cuts across the northern portion of the map, fed by numerous named springs such as 14N14E11BD__01 Spring. Evidence of early settlement is found at the Philbrook Cem, situated near the river and Macaroni Hill Rd. The terrain is defined by deep draws and drainage patterns, most notably Big Coulee in the south and Hauck Coulee to the east. A network of rural roads like Black Bull Rd and Beartooth Rd connect the scattered homesteads and ranch lands across the township.
