Agua Caliente Springs and its namesake Agua Caliente Springs Airport serve as the focal point for this 2015 survey of the Anza-Borrego desert. The map captures a landscape defined by dramatic geological transitions, where the Vallecito Mountains and the Tierra Blanca Mountains hem in the alluvial basins of the Vallecito Valley and Carrizo Valley. This region is a study in ephemeral hydrology, mapped through a dense network of desert washes including Bisnaga Alta Wash, Canebrake Wash, and Ironwood Wash.
