Alaska Bench and Middle Bench rise above the complex network of coulees and canyons in this southern Fergus County landscape. This 2017 survey details the northern fringes of the Little Snowy Mountains, where the Lewis & Clark National Forest encompasses high-elevation terrain carved by Horsethief Canyon and North Horsethief Canyon. The drainage pattern is dominated by the headwaters of N Fork Flatwillow Cr and S Fork Flatwillow Cr, which flow through deep incisions in the plateau.
