About this map

Ashburnham State Forest and its surrounding woodlands define this borderlands region of Massachusetts and New Hampshire in the late 1980s. The landscape is characterized by a high concentration of recreational and conservation lands, including Willard Brook State Forest and the Watatic Mtn State Wildlife Area, which are traversed by the long-distance Wapack Trail and Midstate Trail. The topography is a complex of glacial hills like Mount Watatic and Jewell Hill, interspersed with an extensive network of water bodies such as Upper Naukeag Lake and Winnekeag Lake.
