Vardaman and Atlanta anchor this rural landscape in north-central Mississippi, straddling the border between Calhoun and Chickasaw counties. The northern terrain is defined by the winding course of the Yalobusha River and its numerous tributaries, including Meridian Cr and Cane Cr. To the south, the drainage pattern shifts significantly with the Topashaw Cr Canal, which cuts through the bottomlands near the small community of Bently.
