Goshute Mountains rise as a prominent spine through this high-desert landscape in northeastern Nevada. This 2014 survey captures a sparsely populated region where topographic variation is the primary geographic feature, dominated by the ridge lines of the Goshutes and the flanking Antelope Valley. A critical water source for the area is Ayarbe Spring, located in the southwest portion of the quadrangle. The map also documents the administrative boundary between Elko County and White Pine County, which runs east-to-west across the northern section. This layout reflects the characteristic basin-and-range geography of the Great Basin, where isolated springs and mountain passes defined the movement of early travelers and livestock.
