Stanwix sits at the intersection of desert transport and drainage within the arid landscape along the Yuma and Maricopa County border. This 2021 survey shows a geography dominated by the intermittent flows of Tenmile Wash, which cuts through the southern half of the quadrangle. The terrain transitions between the level stretches of Stanwix Flats to the north and the lower-lying Park Valley further west, illustrating the characteristic alluvial drainage patterns of the Sonoran Desert.
