The Roseau River meanders across this low-lying landscape in northern Roseau County, defining a complex network of wetlands and hydraulic management. This area is characterized by an extensive system of drainage and flood control, notably the straight-line channel of State Ditch Number Sixty-nine and numerous embankments labeled simply as Dike and Dike Rd. These features reflect a long-standing regional effort to manage water levels for agricultural use and habitat conservation in the glacial lake plains of the north.
