Siuslaw National Forest encompasses much of this interior landscape along the border of Lane and Douglas Counties. The area is defined by a dense network of watercourses, most notably the North Fork Smith River and its tributaries like Kentucky Creek and Sheep Herder Creek. Elevation reaches its peaks at Baldy Mtn and Mt Grayback, while prominent landforms such as Hadsall Ridge and Smittie Ridge dictate the flow of local creeks toward the coast.
