Bayou Du Large forms a winding corridor of habitable ground through the marshlands of Terrebonne Parish in the mid-1960s, hosting several small community centers. Cultural life in this aquatic landscape is anchored by the Immaculate Conception Ch and St Andrews Ch, both located along the levee-side road. To the south and east, the transition to open water is marked by a network of tidal channels including Bayou Sauveur and Grand Caillou Bayou.
