Bitterroot National Forest dominates this section of the Idaho backcountry, where the Selway River cuts through the southwest corner at Upper Crossing. This 2013 survey illustrates a landscape defined by high ridges and deep drainages, including Langdon Gulch and Borrow Pit Gulch. The Magruder Corridor Rd provides the primary access through this wilderness area, passing near the Deep Creek Campground. Peaks such as Beaver Jack Mtn, Haystack Mtn, and the uniquely named Old Warriors Face stand as prominent landmarks. The geography is further complicated by numerous watercourses like Scimitar Cr and Hells Half Acre Cr, which drain the steep slopes of Horsejaw Mtn and Pole Mtn.
