White Mesa serves as a central hub in this high desert landscape, situated where Indian Rte 404 and Indian Rte 304 converge. The terrain is defined by a series of prominent mesas and plateaus, including the namesake Big Bench, Bluff Bench, and McCracken Mesa. This 2023 survey illustrates the complex drainage system of San Juan County, where Recapture Creek and Horse Creek carve through the plateau, eventually feeding into the Horse Canyon Reservoir.
