Big Bow anchors this high plains landscape at the intersection of a vast grid of section roads and the county line. Located in western Kansas during the mid-2010s, the area is defined by its agricultural layout, where the Stanton Co and Grant Co border runs north-to-south through the center of the survey. The primary north-south artery, divided into N Big Bow Grade and S Big Bow Grade, serves as a central spine for the small settlement and the surrounding farmsteads.

In the southern reaches of the township, the land descends toward the winding bed of Sand Arroyo Cr. This drainage provides a rare break in the geometric regularity of the Public Land Survey System, which otherwise organizes the terrain into precise square sections. Local researchers can trace the connectivity of this rural community through the numerous numbered roads, including E RD 12 and E RD 17, which facilitate movement between the sprawling fields of T28S and T29S.
