2021 Map of Big Dune

USGS Topo · Published 2021

About this map

Big Dune rises as a prominent landmark within the northern reaches of the Amargosa Desert, surrounded by the wide arid expanses of the Mojave Desert. This terrain is defined by complex geological formations, including the volcanic Lathrop Wells Cone and the prominent southern slopes of Yucca Mountain. The drainage patterns are clearly marked by the Amargosa River and various ephemeral channels such as Solitario Wash and Crater Flat Wash, which cut through the landscape toward Crater Flat.
