Saint Marys River flows through the center of this high-elevation landscape, where the Blue Ridge Mountains create a series of prominent ridges and peaks including Mine Bank Mountain and Donald Fauber Mountain. This terrain is characterized by its network of water sources and recreational sites, from the established community at Love in the southeast to the leisure areas around Sherando Lake and Upper Sherando Lake. The presence of the Blue Ridge Pkwy provides access to several vantage points, such as the Twenty Minute Cliff Overlook and The Priest Overlook, which look out over the deep valleys and gaps.
