Big Shipp Mtn and Little Shipp Mtn dominate this high-desert landscape in Yavapai County, where the easternmost reaches of the Mojave Desert meet the complex drainage systems of the Central Arizona Highlands. The terrain is defined by a series of prominent mesas and volcanic formations, including Hackberry Mesa and S H Mesa, which rise above a network of seasonal watercourses like Little Sycamore Wash and Big Shipp Wash. These washes eventually feed toward the Santa Maria River N Bank at the southern edge of the quadrangle.
