These settlements, including Las Blancas Colonia, Pueblo Nuevo Colonia, and San Carlos Number 1 Colonia, demonstrate the modern land-use patterns along the South Texas border. The map reveals how the street grids of these communities are superimposed on a landscape primarily defined by drainage systems. Several major arroyos, including Dolores Cr and Blancas Cr, cut through the terrain, dictating the placement of ranch roads like Ranch Rd 6092E and Mongona-Hein Rd. North of these developments, the land remains largely open, with Lobo Cr marking the transition into more rural ranching territory.
